After our brief foray to Julian, we took the back country route towards the tranquil desert of Anza Borrego via California County Route S78 East. It was absolutely the kind of roadtrip I was imagining, the picturesque landscapes dotting the highway, a cool playlist running in the background, and an engaging conversation with my most favorite companion made this trip an epic success!
Since this was our first hitch to the low valley desert, you could say, we had no idea what to expect. We love embracing the unknown, and if you ask me, it's just more exciting than knowing and planning every single detail of a trip. Except maybe for some key logistics such as directions and financing! These two factors need a certain touch of planning, other than that...we just winged it!
show the belly and spread your wings, baby! :>
So, we arrived at our destination before sundown and the first thing we did was spot our hunting ground for pasturage because by this time, we were both ravished! I'm telling you now, no amount of beautiful scenery could satisfy a growling tummy..and that's a fact! However, since we were out in the sticks, our pasturage options were limited to a few mom-and-pop eateries. Quiet frankly though, this limited options made decision making much easier!
Don't let these two smiling hungry fellows fool ya!
Oh yeah, of course we dropped in at the Visitor's Center to get some tips and ideas on where to start our adventure the next day. They actually had a host of well informed rangers that gave us a wealth of information, so it was all worth the effort dropping by and heading out with free maps and brochures to loot! :>
So yeah, I can't wait to tell ya what else we ended up getting ourselves into!!
