Taking the Erosion Road Route

After our brief stay at Borrego Springs, we went west on S-22 through the Borrego Badlands and aimlessly took shots of its natural spectacles on a few scenic stop overs. The Anza Borrego Desert is beyond beautiful, you really have to see it to understand why I say it so. I am simply in utter awe. Maybe this is why I decided to write again, it had awakened my senses and given me much inspiration to draw from once again. It is stunning. If you happen to be within the area, you MUST see a piece of this desert. It will haunt you to come back...
First Stop: The Truckhaven Trail

When we are finally sporting a Jeep Wrangler, we will come back to explore you. As of now, we will take a shorter trail with our restless green hornet, who seemed to have enjoyed it nonetheless!

Due to the desert's vastness, we could not help but use our fish-eye lens to capture even a small stretch of this land. If you seek space, the desert is the place to be, otherwise prepare to witness miles and miles of brown earth! It will be gorgeous either way you have it.

Then, North of Truckhaven site, you can hop across Calcite mine, which is equally stunning as its counterpart.

They said this used to be actively mined during WWII for its infamous mineral, Calcite, hence its name. Calcite was processed into optical ring sights for the US military's artillery. They said that the calcite ring provided gunners and bombers the most accurate aim and precision used in targeting during WWII. As of now, this site welcomes hikers and adventurers of all-walks-of-life to delve into its rich history and get lost in time. We will return for this trek alone, but for now, I can only surmise what lies beneath those rocks!

see that fleet of Jeep Wranglers going on a steep mountain climb? One day....one day....one day we will hop on those badass hills and take that scenic and majestic route too!

The next few shots were taken, over looking a slot canyon, in the badlands of Anza Borrego. Breathtaking sight. You have to see it, to believe it.

There were at least 12 scenic spots along the Erosion Road but we've only seen 3! We intend to come back. Like I said earlier, Anza Borrego Desert will haunt you as it did to us. We are definitely coming back, one cave, one trail, one slot canyon, one badland, one oasis at a time!
