Julian, CA

In order to start 2012, we have to end 2011with a bang! So, the Mister and I, decided to tour our local hotspots and snap tons of fun memories without having to leave this awesome state of ours!

Julian's horse drawn carriage

So, first, we headed out to Julian for lunch and had a very sumptuous meal at the Julian Coffee House. It's a mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall type of cafe with a surprisingly delish menu that will fill a hungry tummy.

Julian Coffee House & Great Food definitely impressed our picky palette!

I had an angus burger while the hubby had a healthy tweak of turkey sandwich. After paying a reasonably priced meal in a gorgeously quaint town, we took time to stroll around town. Not to forget our take home of, Julian Pie Company's, sinful dutch apple pie treat, of course! You simply can not leave this town without indulging on their pie, otherwise, you will get shunned by those who have to embark on this infamous "for the love of" Julian pie" pilgrimage! so yeah, don't miss out on that bit of in-pie-mation.

photo-whoring-the-sign-post, why not?!

Along the stroll, we bumped into this equally charming red painted shack and decided to check it out. Lo and behold, we found this authentic, 50-foot, hand dug well, from eons ago, housed in the middle of this tiny little abode! As the front sign says: The Old Well, is to be taken literally! If you are one history buff and loves the feel of old world, you must check it out! it's a fascinating find along with all those retro music records and antiquities they sell inside the museum turned antique shop!

Then, on our drive towards our next destination, we stopped at this private clearing on a turn pike, out of nowhere, and just basked at the beauty of nature! our camera didn't capture the awesomeness of the sight. The silent creek, the perfect drop of sunlight, and the falling leaves ...t'was the perfect conclusion on our short trip to beautiful Julian.

Truthfully, we've been to Julian numerous times. Yet, we didn't look at it on this level of perspective. We have, I might add, failed to appreciate its beauty in the past. It is really easy to overlook what is in front of you, when all you want to do is explore the the next bigger city or prettier town, when all it takes is a willingness to embrace what you already have, turn it around, and make the most out of it! We found a gem right on our own backyard and it's been eagerly waiting all these years!
so friends, where ever you are, I urge you to explore your own backyard for lustrous gems like we did!
